History of Johnny Du Plooy Boxing Career

The tall 6`3 South African boxer started his boxing career in 1985 and beat 17 opponents. He then was stopped cold after losing to ex-boxing champ Mike Weaver by 7th round KO. He later avenged this boxing fight by knocking out Mike Weaver in two rounds and in 1989 challenged Francesco Damiani for the vacant WBO heavyweight title,(DuPlooy was KO'ed in the 3rd round) in that organization's initial bout. After this, he fought 15 more boxing fights and compiled an overall record of 27 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw. All losses were stoppage losses to known opponents.
